My first baby is in Kindergarten

You have your first born and they place the baby in your arms and it is such a (I hate this word but it is so true) surreal feeling. I did not know what to think. My entire life had just changed in one second. Then you bring your baby home and you have absolutely no idea what to do with it. You are responsible for this tiny little life. Talk about an overwhelming feeling. Then you build a little confidence and think hmm I think I have this figured out. Or do I? This tiny little life constantly throws you curve balls. The first baby is like a guinea pig. It is all trial and error.

With my first born I have always thought to the future:
What will it be like when she smiles at me for the first time
What will it be like when she laughs at me for the first time
What will it be like when she says momma for the first time
What will it be like when takes her first steps
What will it be like on her first day of Kindergarten?????????????
I remember my first day, My dad and my brother walked me down the streets of my neighborhood up to what seemed like the biggest school in the world. I held my dad's hand took a deep breath, with the butterflies all though my stomach, walked down that long hallway, and peered into my huge classroom. We said our goodbyes and I turned to look at him holding back the biggest crocodile tears my little eyes could make. I don't remember much more about that day but I remember that moment of being dropped off for the first time.
Today I watched my little girl do the exact same thing and I knew exactly what she was thinking and feeling. I didn't see those big crocodile tears, but she told me she had them after I left. I always feel like she is so old but she seemed so small to me today watching her walk into that class. It was such a proud moment watching her.
When I went to pick her up I could tell in her mood that she had had a great day. She would never admit it but I know by the way she talked and the stories she told. This is a day that will change her life forever just as she changed mine when she came into my life. On a small scale things came full circle today.
Just a few pictures of the many I took. :)

Kate had to have a backpack on too of course

Last spontaneous trip to the zoo!

It was a bittersweet trip to the zoo! I realized as we were driving there on Thursday that this would be the last time ever that I would be able to hop in the car with both of my babies and head to the zoo on any given weekday. On Wednesday things will change forever for my first baby. School everyday until 2:30. We will have to go to the zoo on the days that every other school age child goes. This makes for a very crowded visit. Those days are the most annoying days to go. I'm very excited for Sam to start Kindergarten and watch her grow and change these next few years. I made sure to enjoy every minute I spent with the girls on this trip.
