Sam's "Spring Fling" and Kate's first bath!

Sam had her Spring Fling party on Wednesday. Zane came home to stay with Kate and I went to school to take Sam to her party. She had a great time. She colored Easter eggs, got her face painted, won the cake walk, made bunny ears, had a hot dog and ice cream sunday, and of course hunted for Easter Eggs!!!

Bunny Ears!

Yesterday I gave Kate her first bath. She didn't seem to mind at all. When we gave Sam her first bath you would think we were torturing her. She screamed her head off. Kate just kicked her feet and took it all in. She seems to have such a quiet and calm personality so far. I'm sure that will all change in due time. haha There is a video of her below.....

The Birth of Kate Alexandra

I'm not sure where to begin it has been so long since I posted. Obviously a lot has happened since I last posted and I'm finally getting around to updating the blog. It all started on March 9th I went in for my non stress test to see how baby Kate was doing and my blood pressure was high. My dr told me I needed to stop working and go on modified bed rest. This was not so bad because I had to rest but I still had some freedom. I went back on Thursday the 9th for another stress test and my blood pressure was 160/98 which was way to high to let me go back home. They told me they would probably be sending me over to the hospital to have the baby. Well they sent me over to the hospital but I didn't get a baby. They kept me overnight, monitored me and gave me iv fluids and potassium (it came back low). Zane and I got a good night's sleep and they sent me home in the morning. They sent me home this time on strict bed rest with "bathroom privileges" Fun!!!!! I felt chained to the bed all weekend and it was tough because Sam did not really understand.

Again Monday morning March 16th came and I had to go in for yet another non stress test. (By the way...while I'm in for my test my sister in law Whitney was being induced to have her baby boy Owen.) My mom came with me and when she came to pick me up she said she had packed a bag just in case. I get to the appointment and of course blood pressure was up and I was having tons of contractions. They monitored me for a while and the dr came in to talk to me and made the decision to induce me on St. Patricks day. I was excited about having a St. Patty's baby. She asked me to come back at 4pm to check in. My mom and I went to Target to pick up a "green" sleeper for little miss Kate.
Zane came home at 3 and we got packed and headed to the hospital. It was a beautiful day sunny and about 70 degrees. We checked in and they got me all settled in and ready for induction. At about 5 pm they put something into my cervix to get it ready for induction. This caused me to have contractions all night so I didn't get much sleep that night. They started the induction at about 6am on the 17th. At first things were progressing very slowly. At about 9 I was only at 3cm. All of a sudden around 9:30 contracts were back and the epidural had not kept up because I had dilated from 3-10 cm in 30 minutes. They had to give me a second dose of the epidural and then little Miss Kate made her entrance at 11:31 AM. She was 7lbs and 12 1/2 ozs and 20 1/2 inches. Not to shabby for 2 weeks and 2 days early. She was ready to meet us.

Big Sister Sam loves Baby Sister Kate

So I caved in and posted the picture that I said I'd never post "the big belly picture" Mostly for my dad and Kathy since we don't see each other often. Also, because when I saw the picture it was so sweet to see my baby giving her baby sister a kiss. Life doesn't get any better than this! :-)

A few more 3rd Birthday Pics

Sam had another birthday party at Grandma's house with Grandma, Grandpa Ken, Ashley, Linda, Mema, Willie, David, and Zach. She was spoiled with gifts and had such a great time with her special Dora cupcakes.

A Little Thank You

I've been a little run down and tired lately so I've gotten behind on my posts. Here are a few more of Sam's birthday. This is a video of her thanking Grandpa Bob and Grandma Kathy (who live in Florida) for her card and money.

BIRTHDAY!!!!

It is so hard to believe our little peanut turned 3 yesterday. She had such a blast with all of her friends at her birthday party. She had a double party with Taylor and there were about 20 kids that participated. It was so much fun to watch them all. We can hardly believe how she has grown. I'm posting a few pictures to show each birthday. Also over to the right I posted a slide show of all the festivities yesterday!!! ENJOY!

I love you!

I was on the computer and found this song that Sam sang to me. I forgot to post it. TOO CUTE!

Baby Kate is causing trouble already!

Yesterday Baby Kate decided to cause some trouble...about half way through the day I started having contractions. I originally blew them off because I just thought they were the normal braxton hicks contractions you start having at this point. After a couple of hours they became a little stronger I decided to call my dr and they wanted me to come in. After a few hours of monitoring they sent me over to the hospital to get iv fluids. I got the iv fluids for a couple of hours and continued to have a few contractions. They then decided to give me a shot of Terbutaline which stops preterm labor. It worked pretty quickly and once the contractions stopped they sent me on my way. I was so glad to get out of there I told them they had to get me fixed so I can make it home for Sam's 3rd birthday which is tomorrow. She is such a big girl and more to come on her big weekend in store.
Today I've been taking it easy as told and I'm happy to report no contractions today.

January 09 Snow!

I'm a little late posting these from the 10 inches of snow we got a couple of weeks ago but better late than never!

Baby Kate's room- Yes I said it we FINALLY decided on Kate :-)

The room is coming along slowly but surely. Really we just need some pictures for the walls. As you can see in the picture Sam's step stool is next to the crib. She is already using it for a crib for her baby dolls. A little story about the chandelier of course we had to have one in baby sisters room just like big sister Sam's. Well it came with a plug to plug into the wall. Zane "the electrician" rewired it and was able to hang it from the ceiling. He is quite the handy guy!! :-)

Fun pics and Bella Dancearella

So the weekend turned out to be a nice one. Saturday was a little rough Sam was whining, Mom was tired and that is not a good mix. Sat night we went to Taylors house to play and have pizza. The girls were going to dance to Taylor's bella dancearella video. They were getting tired and it didn't quite work out. Sam and Taylor were fighting about where the dancing mat should go. Sam wanted to move it away from the tv but Taylor always has it up by the tv cabinet so this did not go over well. I would pay to see the video that Tansels captured during this fiasco! A few pics of Sam playing in the cube and in her bella dancearella costume.

We have gotten 09 off to a good start. Sam is becomming very independent but now our biggest battle is listening. We are working on it, but we still have long way to go. Also, we have spent a lot of time recently working on getting baby sister's room ready for her big arrival day. We had built-in shelves put in, new carpet upstairs and on the stairs, and the furniture is being delivered tomorrow. I will post some pictures after the furniture is delivered and the room starts coming together.

Our Trip to St. Loius

walking Rocky around the house

cousin Lauren painting my nails

The first weekend in January we had our annual trip to St. Louis. We always do sort of a christmas theme and hang out and have fun. Friday night the guys went to the casino. I of course missed that one. I didn't miss much because there were no big winners, in fact Zane was the biggest loser haha! Next year I'll win the money back. Saturday the girls went shopping and to lunch and the guys went to a bar to watch the games. At this point Sam started acting pretty bad which is not like her she usually loves to shop. We had planned to wake up Sunday and take our time making our way back to Indy. EXCEPT.......Sam wakes me up at 7am throwing up. She had caught a stomach virus and threw up about every 20 minutes for 8 hours needless to say it was a fun ride back. Once she was finished she was back to her old self. I wish we could bounce back like kids do!!! Can't wait for next years trip!

Funny Poop Story

So for those of you who have 2-3 year olds you will understand that poop and potty are common words in the household especially if you are potty training. Sam is completely potty trained now so we communicate about pooping and going potty quite often. We even use the word turd, but not to the extent that she did last night. Last night she gave her usual shout out that she had to go POOP! Then she proceeded to say that she needed to get a turd out of her bottom. I had her repeat it because I wasn't sure if she really said it haha! When we got into the bathroom she told me that Miss Lindsay (her teacher) told her not use the word turd at school just say poop. I said yea we better not say that word any more. Sam said, "Mommy I still want to say the word turd at home but I'll say poop at school!" The things they say HILARIOUS!
